1930s Dresses

The financial difficulties that occurred during the great depression led to conservatism in many aspects of life even in fashion. The brash styles of the 1920s were dropped in favor of more feminine and romantic silhouettes. The hemlines became longer and dropped almost almost down to the length of the ankle, and the bust becomes more prominent. Daywear is softer and slimmer, while open-back evening dresses become fashionable. Slim tones and sporty silhouettes were all the rage, and fashion designers restored their waistlines.
